Neighborhood Registration

For those residing in the University Attendance Zone who have not been enrolled in a Caddo Parish School previously, you must complete the online registration through the Caddo Parish Registration Portal. This includes all incoming Kindergartners. You will need to upload the following documents into the portal to complete registration: 

  • Proof of Caddo Parish residency (Deed or lease and photo ID with 2 proofs of residency)

  • Child's Social Security card

  • Parent's Driver's License

  • Birth Certificate 

  • Louisiana Certificate of Immunization

  • Copy of the child’s most recent report card (if applicable)

For Kindergarten applicants, we will schedule a time for your child to take a Kindergarten readiness test at the school. The test takes about 15 minutes helps us to determine the child's current skill level. We use this information to create well-balanced classes and plan instructional supports. 

Out-of-Zone Registration (Kinder - 5th Grade)

Around 5% of University students attend on contract from outside our attendance zone. University accepts contract students each year based on available space. We typically accept around 15 out-of-zone kindergarten students per year and several in grades 1 - 5 based on space. We continue to accept applications throughout the Spring and Summer. If all places are filled, we will place you on the waiting list.

Pre-K Registration (For Gifted PreK look at the next section)

University Pre-K enrollment is limited to 60 students and is only available to those living in the University Attendance Zone. Please confirm your school zone by searching your address on this page. 

Pre-K Registration is online only at http://caddosmartstart.com/. You will need clear legible scans or photos of the following documents ready to upload when registering:

  • Proof of Residence (current mortgage, lease, or utility bill)

  • Birth Certificate

  • Parent Driver's License

  • Current Immunization Record

  • Proof of Income for all adults living in the home (two consecutive pay stubs or copy of current SNAP benefits with child's name and start/end dates)

  • If the child lives with someone else, we need a notarized letter from the homeowner/renter that states the address, their name, and the names of the Pre-K child and all family members.

  • If either parent is unemployed, we need a Statement of No Income (we have these available)

  • If either parent is irregularly employed, we need a Statement of Irregular Employment (we have these available)

Pre-K Gifted Registration

University Gifted Pre-K enrollment is limited to one class and is available to those living in Caddo Parish.
